Josiah Vega didn’t allow a single run against East Grand Rapids, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Rockford Rams Freshman to a 10-0 victory on Saturday

Rockford Rams Freshman secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the first inning. Michael Skarda, Ben Hollander, Vega, Gavin Engelsman, and Dylan Broekstra powered the big inning with RBIs. Skarda tripled on the first pitch of his at bat, scoring two runs.

One bright spot for East Grand Rapids was a double by Scotty Millman in the first inning.

Vega was on the pitcher’s mound for Rockford Rams Freshman. The fireballer went five innings, allowing zero runs on four hits.

Tommy Cavaugh was on the mound for East Grand Rapids. The pitcher allowed nine hits and ten runs over two innings, striking out two. Ben Bello threw three innings in relief.

Rockford Rams Freshman collected 11 hits on the day. Engelsman, Haiden Noakes, and Broekstra each racked up multiple hits for Rockford Rams Freshman. Engelsman led Rockford Rams Freshman with three hits in four at bats. Rockford Rams Freshman was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Skarda had the most chances in the field with ten.
